Gore Santa Parade

What to make of an event called Gore Santa Parade? Kiwis are into all sorts of extreme sports and activities, but they don't seem violent. We're in a town called Gore and so there are creepy places called New World Gore (grocery) and the Gore Town & Country Club. Sam swam in Gore yesterday which also sounds gross, but the town has a lovely, unbloodied aquatic center (she's now swum in 6 different South Island towns). And as a side note, the locals call one of the roads leaving the town the Presidential highway because it leads to another town, nearby, named Clinton. Oh, and the main breed of sheep they have around here (see bottom image for a monument honoring such) is the Romney sheep. Weird.

We went to the Christmas market in Riverton the other day and saw this knitted cosy(?) for a car complete with dueling manger scenes on the front hood. It was incredibly rainy so the cover must have weighed a ton with all the water it absorbed! Meanwhile the musicians pictured below had a definite Flight of the Conchords vibe, as they waited for the fanbase to arrive.
