Our 25th anniversary was this past Friday. Last year we spent our anniversary in a severe lockdown in Greece. This year we're in Maine living like hermits. How many anniversaries, birthdays, etc., will we all pass in this isolated way? Lots of friends and family members have gotten at least one dose of a vaccine and hopefully this paves the way for eventual safety and normalcy. (We hope we'll be able to get our first shot in the next few weeks.) Anyway, despite the social limitations, on our anniversary we enjoyed some spring-like weather, Sam made a fancy lemon cake, we cooked some of the excellent seafood, and most importantly, we still actually like spending time together!
As for our day-to-day activities, over the course of the winter, Sam has practically sewn a whole new travel wardrobe. We'll be ready to go when we can actually go! Everything is one-of-a-kind as she has designed each piece. But we've found a way to make her garments even more unique with some embellishments. We collaborated on some fancy pockets (with me drawing a design and Sam handling the sewing or embroidery) pictured below. Has anyone ever put Cindy Wilson from the B-52s on a pocket? I'm thinking this could be precedent-setting.
Meanwhile, I achieved a first, too.
I self published an e-book on Amazon! It's an illustrated non-conformist travel guide to Greece. It should be free to download if you have Kindle Unlimited, but if you don't, here's a
pdf version that you can download. I can't find a way to simply share it for free as an e-book (which has a slightly more polished format than a pdf). It was a fun learning process and I have some ideas percolating if I do something like this again.
