Time for the koala to pass by (and for us move the frog to the sink)

We spent two weeks in Adelaide and suspect that we'll be there again at some point in the future. It's a great town. We spent a week on the edge of the Adelaide hills and then a week at  beachside North Glenelg and both were pleasant locations. The city has a high quality of life, great food, and a relaxed city vibe (though drivers are a bit self-centered).  We enjoyed an amazing sunset on our last night in Glenelg (shown below).

As a side note, oddly enough, two of the recent places we've rented (one in Adelaide, one in Wellington) have been owned by Greek immigrants. We had dinner with our Adelaide Greek-Aussie hosts and they plied us with some tasty Greek home cooking. Seems like Greece is a theme to our travels even when we don't expect it to be! We didn't know either host was Greek until after we booked the reservation. Hmm, is it a sign?!

Yesterday we flew from Adelaide to Brisbane, took a shuttle bus from the airport to a port named Cleveland, then a ferry to North Stradbroke Island, and finally a took a local bus to the beach community where we're staying, Point Lookout. The place we're staying in is a bit of a time warp with nice vintage beach tiki-ish decor, and lots of windows to let in the sea breezes. The owner likes to call it a shack, and it is, in the fondest possible way. We enjoyed sleeping with windows fully open, taking cold showers in the outdoor shower, etc. Last night after sundown, a koala slowly crept past us, somewhat awkwardly stretched up the trunk of the tree right next to our place, slowly climbed halfway up, and nestled in for the evening. It's now our second evening here and we eagerly, quietly await. It should be heading past any minute now. [Update: the little guy just walked past us like he was dropping by for a house-call and then he walked slowly, about 5 feet from us, to his tree for the night as per ritual. The whole thing was too cute and touching to properly describe really! Pic from tonight added at bottom.] We've also seen a dozen or so kangaroos grazing on people's yards.  We heard that a frog might visit our rustic bathroom and as predicted, he appeared, perched on the toilet seat; Sam followed the instructions and scooped the little fella into the sink (photo below). Oh, and the beaches here are quite stunning!

Looks like it'll be an enjoyable couple of weeks here.
